Dear Jacob,
Antarctica has been ruff this year. We get to come home for the winter because of the extremely cold months. A friend of mine has been in a critical condition since an accident that happened last month. He had to be moved to New Zealand for a while until he got transferred a couple of weeks ago. The man who was injured name was Peter; he was taking pictures of Blue Whales when the ice around him cracked and he fell in.

The station is going well, we found a new sort of plant down here. We named it the Violable. The head chairman of the expedition thinks that our new discovery is amazing and that no one has found something like it before in three years. Its so great to know that the person you share your room with found it.

I saw 500, Emperor Penguins in breeding season. It was so exciting to see all the penguins there. It was the most amazing experience looking at some of the baby chicks being fed by their mother. Some of the eggs didn’t hatch because they froze. It was the most heart-breaking thing to see the parents go through so much pain.

I sent some pictures in the mail of the station and some of the animals that we saw. We had to do so many things this year. My favourite picture that I took is the one of some Killer Whales. There is a pretty good picture there that I liked of all the Emporia Penguins in the area of the breeding grounds.

I hope to see you in a couple of weeks. Good-Bye for now.
